Most journalists use social media as a reporting tool

A new survey of 371 journalists conducted by Cision and George Washington University found that the majority of reporters use social media as a resource for research. Among some of the fascinating findings:

 

89% of journalists said they look to blogs for story reporting.

65% of journalists look to social networking sites like Facebook and LinkedIn for information.

52% of journalists report using Twitter and other microblogging sites.

Journalists with less experience use social media metrics to indicate impact more than move seasoned journalists.

91% of newspaper journalists and 85% of magazine journalists think social media is less reliable.
